If you’re heading to the Kitsap Peninsula this July, don’t miss Silverdale’s annual Whaling Days festival from July 26 to 28. Each year, the local community comes together for 3 days of fun in the summer sun in Old Town Silverdale.
One of the highlights of the festival is the live music performances. This year’s performer lineup includes The Sunset Grooves on Friday July 26 (stick around for fireworks over the Dyes Inlet at dusk) and daytime concerts by DooWop and the Shoo B Doos, Joel Gibson Jr and the Hired Guns, and Skinny Blue on Saturday and Sunday.
Beyond live music, each day’s festivities also includes carnival rides, food vendors, and a beer and wine garden for attendees 21 and up.
On Saturday morning, check out the Whale of a Run event benefitting Meals on Wheels Kitsap. The Whale of a Run event includes a 4 mile race, 1 mile run/walk, a Kids Dash for the little ones, and a non-competitive Fun Dash with Special Olympics athletes. Other Saturday events include a parade from 10 to 11 am and the Kitsap Destruction Derby from 4:30 to 8 pm.
On Sunday, don’t miss the Dyes Inlet Dash canoe races, where you can either participate in or sit back and watch the 500 meter Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe sprint race across the picturesque Dyes Inlet. If you wish to register to participate, the canoes, paddles, and steers person are all provided, as well as life jackets and snacks.
This community festival is family friendly and totally free to attend! By attending the festival, the proceeds of any money you spend on food, rides, or entertainment either benefits local charities or contributes to scholarships for high school graduates of the local school district. Best Western Plus Silverdale Beach Hotel is conveniently located less than a 15-minute walk away from the event grounds at Silverlake Waterfront Park. We’re so proud to support our local community and look forward to hosting our guests as they get to know the locals through this awesome event.
